The Great Fourstone Dawn

There were originally four stones left here on the Lancashire - Yorkshire border by the retreating ice sheet, but three of them have been broken up and used in houses and barns over the years. The mountains of Ingleborough, Wernside and Gregoreth are in the background.

From above Austwick across the moorland landscape

Swaledale Sheep In Snow

Sturdy Swaledale Sheep are bred for the harsh winters.

Malham Cove

Climbers test their skills on the high cliffs, whilst below
cavers enter the cave system that threads its way
under the landscape.

Flower Meadow

The limestone sub-strata of The Yorkshire Dales once
supported many upland wild flower meadows but, sadly,
these are now rare.
In this meadow there were many Early-purple Orchids

Before The Storm

An autumn storm approaches Ingleborough mountain
from the North, but not before a slither of sunlight lit
the Twistleton valley
